I am not a cook.
However, I am (now) the sponsor for our school's chapter of National Honor Society. As a fundraiser to help fund the annual scholarship and other things that the chapter must pay for, we decided to do a non-traditional bake sale. We went around for two weeks, and got teachers and other faculty to pre-order the items we had determined would be made. After 38 items were ordered, we divided up who got to make what.
I was special enough to get to make 2 Million Dollar Poundcakes. So, I made one the night before, and then the other one last night. I can only pray that they turned out well.
I am feeling pretty happy though that they didn't get burned, because I am traditionally known for burning anything that has anything to do with bread. It sucks to be me, but at least I'm not the one that has to eat them!
So, for future reference, please don't ask me to bake anything for you. I won't be able to say no, and I won't be able to make it right.

Random Thoughts
Oh my gosh my desk is so messy! But, instead of working on cleaning it off by grading the papers that are on there, I am typing here. What the heck?
Also, I just wanted to update those of you who follow my friends' lives through me... my friend Amanda (the one with two boys and baby number three on the way) called yesterday to tell me that I didn't have to worry about buying the new baby anything pink. I'm gonna be Aunt Shell to another baby boy! Wahoo!
Okay, better go grade stuff... yuck.

Make a Joyful Noise
When I was a student in high school, I used to think that the coolest sound was the last note played by our orchestra as it rang out in the auditorium. And then I got older, and I was a college student, and I thought the best sound in the world was the loudest I could get my radio to go in the car. And then I graduated from college and started teaching... and the best sound in the world was the quiet of my conference period.
Then I was pregnant, and the most important sound in the world was the little heartbeat of my growing baby. Once I had my Micheal, I thought that the sweetest sound in the world was his little gulping noises when he was nursing.
Now he's getting a little older, and everything is funny to him. And now, the best sound in the whole world is when Micheal finds something funny and he laughs. His little giggle is SOOO CUTE!
Anybody know of any better sound in the world? I don't.

Bad Four Letter Words in Our Everyday Language
I have come to the conclusion that there are more than those Everyone-knows-them-but-no-one-says-them type curse words. These kind are the kind that come up in everyday language and the person that says them may not be aware of the degree of offense that someone else listening might take them.
Such is the case with a little word spelled P-R-O-M.
This year I am the junior class sponsor with another teacher here at school. This sponsorship stuff usually isn't a big deal until it's their junior year, and then a little more work when they are seniors. But, the junior class puts on p^*m for the seniors, and being the sponsors, we are the party planners and chairpeople of every p^*m committee ever invented. It really sucks. Not to mention that you would think that you could get a few parents involved to help take some of the planning and creative burden off of a teacher who is trying to plan this event, while at the same time trying to teach students so that they can pass that other four letter curse word... T-A-K-S.
So, this weekend was spent with 5 junior class girls at my house making invitations to this event, and then we planned centerpieces for the tables, and I think we have enough stuff ordered for decorations, and then we're just going to p-r-a-y from now until April 16th that everything goes smoothly. Oops, another four-letter school mandated curse word. This really sucks.

Not a Good Friday
I learned last night that my school sucks.
Not really, but I am finding out that other schools either get out early next Friday, or just plain don't have school at all. Why don't we? I want to be away from school so that it really can be a Good Friday.
Is there anyone else in the world that has to work on Good Friday besides my husband and his other public service workers?

A Case of the Mondays
Today is Monday, and after a long wonderful weekend of doing nothing more than I absolutely had to, I came back to work, only to be missing my watch. Do you know how annoying it is not to have a watch?!? And in my classroom, I purposely set my clock a few minutes off so that my students don't pack up to leave before the bell rings, so that messed me up even more today because I kept forgetting that it was set wrong, and I kept thinking we had a few more minutes and then the bell would ring! Dangit!
I hope my husband found my watch at home today... If not, then I am going to have to find batteries for the other ones that I need batteries for! Argh.... I hate Mondays!

Lazy Day
Today is Saturday and I have done NOTHING all day long. But, due to recent adventures lately with my child, I could think of NOTHING better to be doing.
So, we have played ball, chased each other around the floor, and are sharing Ritz crackers and Cheerios. He thinks he wants some of my tea, but he'll just have to have his water instead.
There is NOTHING in the world better than doing absolutely NOTHING with your child all day long!

Yankee or Dixie?
In an attempt to keep my mind off of things that bother me, I opened some e-mails from people that I might not usually take the time to look at. In doing so, I have come across a site that deciphers how redneck you really are...
It's called Yankee or Dixie, and I am 81% Dixie.
Just redneck enough...
You try....

Murmurs of the Heart
If you have ever prayed for me, I appreciate you greatly, and ask for your continued support now.
Yesterday, my perfect child had his 9-month old well baby check-up. Being thankful that there weren't any shots or anything of that nature going on, I skipped out on this appointment. I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing now, because we find out now that my little Micheal has a heart murmur.
Doctors (and everyone else I have said anything to) has said that this is perfectly normal and that 80% of all babies get them, and then grow out of them. So, we shall see.
But, I don't want to be in the part of the 80% that doesn't grow out of it, so pray for my child, that when we take him to a pediatric cardioligist there will not be anymore murmurs.

Confessions of a Junkie
Okay, so they say that the first step to normalcy is to admit you have a problem. So, here goes...
Hi. My name is Michelle, and I'm a reality show addict.
I have to have it! It all started with Survivor. Then it lead to Big Brother. Occassionally, I'll squeeze in a Bachelor or Bachellorette, but that's only out of morbid curiosity than a liking for the show itself. And don't forget American Idol! But I get a little bored when they get down to the last few shows. It's not fun when you can't make fun of the bad singers anymore.
But just this year, I really got into the Amazing Race. And, even though my son is still perfect and I don't have to worry about his antics just yet, I like to watch Super Nanny just to get some ideas for later.
The most fun to watch was My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancee. I loved watching to see what he was going to do next so that she didn't have an easy time convincing her family.
But, I do have to draw the line somewhere. I WILL NOT watch a couple of the new shows out now, especially ones on FOX. Ones like "Are you my Daddy?" and Bravo's "Project Runway" or the swimsuit model one, or even "Nashville Star."
So, thank God for DVR, because with all this TV to watch, I'd never get anything done!
