A little rant...
My most hated question right now is "Was this baby planned?"
What the heck is it anybody's business if this pregnancy was planned like this or not? Who said that they have the right to ask a question like that? The timing of this pregnancy may not fit exactly into a teacher's perfect schedule, but why do I have to stick to what every other teacher thinks I should do? Plenty of women have babies every day of the year, teachers included. My favorite was a man that looked at me after I told him my due date and said,"So, you're going to start a new job, then a month later go have a baby? That wasn't good planning, was it?" Excuse me? What the heck? God planned every bit of this, the rest of them can shut up.
A little lesson learned...
Today, I was out running errands and had to stop at Starbuck's to get a few gift certificates, and while I was there, I figured I would get a little something for myself, too, since I was out and about anyway. I didn't even finish it, but I have been paying for it all day long. I've had the worst headache, my belly is sore, and I just plain feel like crap. This sucks. I guess I won't be doing that again for a while.
A little smile...
Tuesday we had the doctor's appointment where I had an ultrasound. As agreed, we didn't want to find out the sex of the baby, and we told our doctor as such. He was really good about keeping our wish last time with Micheal, and we knew he'd be just as good this time. Last time, though, he took a sneak peak and knew that Micheal was a boy without telling us. He was going to try to do the same this time, so he said, so that if we changed our minds later, he would be able to tell us. We laughed, because we didn't change our minds last time, why would we change this time? Anyway, we are watching the screen with our new baby on it, and we notice that the doctor didn't tell us that he knew the sex of the baby at all. At about that time, he tells us that this baby doesn't want us to know whether we're having a boy or girl, either, because for some reason of unknown modesty, my child decided to keep his/her knees tightly shut together the entire time, not letting anybody see anything. At one point, the baby even put a hand down at his/her feet, as if to put one more bone between us and the one part that would tell us whether we were having a boy or a girl. It makes me smile. The doctor told us that his rule was that if the momma didn't know, then no one would know, but he doesn't usually include himself in that ruling. For whatever reason, though, our secret is still a secret, just like we wanted.

To My Sister...
When my sister moved back home to start her new job, I was so overcome with emotions, pride for her, and fear that she'd never come back, all at the same time. The only way I could let her know exactly how I felt about her was to write it down. I can't remember if I have shared this with you before, but it's good enough to share again.
Why, you ask? Today is my sister's birthday, and today is the day to celebrate all that is about her. So, here it is:
To My Sister,
You are my family, you are my sister, you are my best friend.
You have yelled at me, cried with me, and laughed together afterward.
You understand my frustrations, and I don’t test your boundaries.
You support me, and I support you, even when we don’t necessarily agree.
As you step into the next chapter of your life, I thank you for sharing this chapter with me, and I want to remind you that no matter where you go, no matter what we do, no matter how far apart or close together we are,
You are my family, my sister, and my best friend.
Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow…
I love you!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER! Go there and wish her a happy day!

Open Season
It's that time of year again!
Finally, after many problems and lots of money later, the pool is finally open! All those in driving distance are welcome! The month of June will have some limited hours while I have an extra job in the afternoons, but after that, it's open every day all day! :)
As tradition, this season was opened with a new toy, this year provided by Grandmama for Micheal's birthday. This watergun has such force that every animal around us evacuated the area as soon as the first squirt was shot. We couldn't even bribe the dogs to come back until AFTER we had gotten away from the pool and put the toys away.
Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
Happy Summertime!

Time is Up
One of my absolute favorite things to do in the whole world is to lay on my stomach and work, or watch tv, or sleep. But, for the time being, my time is up.
I have officially gotten to the point in my pregnancy where I can no longer lay on my belly without feelings of uncomfort or that I'm injuring the baby. I'm just now getting to the point where I can feel little baby bubble movements, and I don't want to do anything to make that little one stop moving. Almost halfway there!
I remember after having Micheal that first night I was able to lay on my belly again, and how I had missed it. I guess now I'll have something other than a new baby to look forward to in a few short months!

Now I know...
Now I know why I never used to have indoor plants... because they bring all these gnats that I can't seem to make go away. They follow me around the house like I haven't bathed or something, even though that's about the only thing that I make sure gets done every day.
Now I know why I never wanted to have an inside pet, either. I already don't know what to do about these fish. Why does their water get cloudy every two days? Am I doing something wrong?
Now I know why my husband taught me how to crank the generator that he bought after the hurricane came through and left us powerless for a week. Because when he left very early yesterday morning for a week long school in the middle of nowhere, he didn't know that a storm would come through and knock out our power for eight and a half hours.
Now I know why I don't like knowing that my husband won't be coming home for a week... it makes every noise in the house sound ten times louder. And when you live in the middle of nowhere, and the dog that wandered up a few months ago barks at anything that moves in the moonlight, it makes it a little bit scarier. But, I'm a big girl, right? Just lock all the doors and close all the window shades.
Now I know why I'm not a stay at home mom... I like to have a schedule to keep. Otherwise, the only thing that really matters on my to-do list is a shower and keep the toys from being layering too much on the living room floor. I've got to have a schedule. Maybe I should do that. Schedule my day of nothingness.

A Little Help?
I need some help.
My child likes to sing. We know that. Most of the songs he sings, either I taught them to him, or I know the ones they sing at school. However, right now, his favorite song is one that I have never heard before. I think the main problem is that he doesn't really know all the words either, he just has his favorite parts, and that is the part he sings over and over again.
So, I'll tell you the parts he sings, and maybe you can help me fill in the missing pieces...
"Down by the station,
in the morning morning,
turn the little handle,
chug, chug, up, up,
Bye, bye."
But, as I write this, and am asking him the words again, he tells me that it's not those words, it says:
"Down by the station,
early in the morning,
see the little pupperbeller,
turn the little handle,
chug, chug, up, up,
Bye Bye."
I have no idea what the pupperbeller is, and I've asked what it is, and he just says that what the kids say. And while he says the chug, chug part, he does his little train arm moving in circles.
Anyone have any ideas?
