Stuck

Yesterday, I picked my child up from his school, only to be told that he had a "goody bag" from another child's birthday party that day. Immediately, several things ran through my mind. Parties mean sugar, sugar means short naps, short naps mean bad moods, and bad moods lead to early bed times for little ones. When we got into the car the goody bag had to be opened. Once it was opened, all of the contents came out, one by one. First to come out, a piece of bubble gum. Mommy quickly intervened and said no to that one. Next was a green apple Blow Pop. Which means more gum. Again, with more tears from the boy, and a promise for "after dinner", that one got put away also. By the time we had gotten home, he had found the two long strips of tiny stickers. To which he immediately started putting on. But, with my child, you can't have just one. You have to have them all. And this is what we ended up with.

When we went to take them off to go to bed, we put them on a piece of paper, which is what he immediately went looking for the minute after he woke up. And back on the legs they went. Until they started falling off, and then he put them all on a toy. And then took them all off and now they are on my floor. Yeah.
Last thought... Who puts gum in a goody bag for two year olds?

Copy Cat

We eat dinner…

I take a bite, he takes a bite.
I put down my fork, he puts down his fork.
I take a drink, he takes a drink.
I put down the cup, he puts down the cup.
I pick up the drink again, he picks up the drink again.

And so the game plays on.

We go outside…

I have on tennis shoes, he wants on his tennis shoes.
But if he has on tennis shoes and I have on flip-flops, then we have to change his shoes because he wants his flip-flops on, too!

We get dressed in the morning…

Daddy puts on a grey shirt, Micheal wants a grey shirt.

And the fun continues… But, hey, it’s fun while it lasts!

Apologies

I'm really bad at this too many irons in the fire issue.

I have too many things going on right now, and not enough forethought to write them down when I think about them.

We've bought a new truck and gotten rid of the old junky monster.
We've had issues with the purchase of this truck with the dealership and the things that they have said they would do and haven't done yet.

We've completely finished potty-training at our house, and since December had only three accidents in bed, all of them minor.

We've been visited by in-laws and visited family at their house.

We've still not adjusted to this time change, and it is harder to get a little boy to sleep when it's only been dark for ten minutes instead of two hours.

And lastly, my husband went on a week long drive and back to California with his parents to pick up my youngest brother in law, hopefully to return on Thursday night, latest on Friday.
It's not like I don't know how to take care of myself, my child and my house all by myself, it's just nicer to have someone here at home.

Better posts are coming, when I remember to write them down. I promise.

Crazy News

First off, I saw this on the news the other day and thought about my sister, and my Granny. No matter how early they try to be, if you want them there at 3 pm, tell them to be there at 2 pm. Now that she's got a job, she's got to be there a little earlier, and she gets up really early to get there on time, and she hasn't been fired yet, so I guess she gets there on time.

Secondly, I just saw this story on the news, and I can not seriously believe that this happens. It's just sad, really. I mean, I know a girl that didn't know she was pregnant until about six months into it, when she felt the baby kick, but to be so big that she didn't even feel it kick, and thought that her contractions or whatever were just a stomach ache! Argh! It bothers me that some people are blessed with children, when I have other friends that have not been blessed with their own child.

Story time is over.

Drops of Death

My son has been unusually good about taking medicine in his short life so far, which is odd, coming from this mother who fought tooth and nail so that I didn't have to take medicine. Ask my mom. I've been so proud of him, because he'll even ASK for medicine if he doesn't feel good. Until today.
Today we took him to the doctor for his cough and congestion that has led him into pinkeye in both eyes. The first hard part was that our doctor is on maternity leave, and her husband was keeping up her appointments, so we visited someone we're not used to. Then it was bad because mommy had to hold him down so that the doctor could try to look into his eyes and his mouth, but it didn't work. Then, in order to get rid of the pinkeye, we were prescribed some eye drops. I didn't think anything of it, until my son fought it tooth and nail, almost crying so much that he was going to throw up. I remembered that feeling, and just did what my mom did. I got those dad-gum drops into his eyes anyway.
The best part?
I'm supposed to do that four times a day. No joke.
